Standing Out on the Fundraising Stage
By Sheridan Bruce, FINZ
Every year fundraisers have the opportunity to celebrate the success of their peers at the Soar Print Fundraising Excellence Awards ceremony. This annual FINZ event, scheduled to coincide with the FINZ annual conference, puts charities and their fundraisers in the spot light and highlights the talents and achievements of those fundraisers working at the top of their game.
"Best practice and fundraising professionalism is recognised as a key driver in growing philanthropy," says Jim Datson, FINZ Fellow and awards judge. "Our purpose as fundraisers isn't just to go quietly about our business. It's to go proudly and loudly about our business. We do such extraordinarily good work for good causs and winning an award is one way our charities can be recognised. It gives immense comfort to our donors, funders, board, and staff that we're doing what we should be doing, well."
Jim and his fellow judges urge fundraisers to consider entering their charity into any or all of the awards categories. Just meeting the entry criteria can provide fundraisers with the assurance that they're on track with the assurance that they're on track with their processes.

Start thinking about how you can present your campaign for the judges
Tell the judges your campaign story; what you set out to achieve, your goals and objectives and whatyou did achive. All the steps in helping you achieve your goals will need to be clearly defined including audiences, channels, timings, and expenses. Most important the judges want to read about your campaign's success in terms of funds raised, people involved, and how your campaign has transformed lives. Each category will have specific requirements so stay focused and ensure your entry is relevant to what thejudges are asking. Innovation and adherence to ethical fundraising principles and practices is a given. As long as the majority of your campaign had been conducted in 2015, it qualifies for entry.
