Kia Ora Council

11th September 2015

Well we are now launched on our new NetCommunity board members intranet and have formally moved off the old Most intranet.  It has been a challanging transfer but we are there.

I realise that things will not look any different from your end but it is an enormous change in the office and with practice we will become skilled users which will offer more services and less staff time in managing the system.

Just to advise that our rented photocopier has passed away with 9 months to go on its 45 month contract.  Canon has supplied us a newer model which is faster and has better duplicating and stapling facilities.  This new model is also 40% cheaper per copy cost than the old model for both colour and black and white.  Annually this will save us $2,000 a year on similar quantities.  I have signed a new lease for a new 45 month term and accordingly advise you that this brings a contingent liability of $2,671 a year accumulated until the 45 month lease is into its final 12 months.

To view the minutes of the Council teleconference held on Tuesday 21 April please click here

At that teleconference, I advised that BDO has presented the FINZ Financial Statements for the year ending 31 December 2014 with a surplus for the office of $11,535 and are larger surplus for the consolidated accounts of $15,371.  As you know I was expecting a report that showed a deficit.  There will be some further adjustments especially with bad debts which will knock a few 000's off the final figure.  Also we have yet to calculate our tax which again will lower our net surplus.

I have been keeping you up-to-date with reports etc by email rather than placement on this site.  So this is a bit of a catchup so you can find all my reports on one place.

Regarding FINZ's cash flow, our current bank balance is just over $310,000 and whilst that will continue to climb during April it will start diminishing in May as the expenses relating to the Conference come home.  Still we are currently in a healthy state with Conference registrations ahead of budget and our Sponsorship budget expectations very likely to be met.

Our membership continues to grow which is very pleasing as we normally have a dip in January/February as most of our membership is on a calendar year and a good number do not renew.  Andrew healey has been working hard on getting members to renew and is also conducting the exit interviews for those that do not.  Reason's for non renewal are mainly have moved out of the fundraising industry or cannot afford the fee.

Membership as at 30 June shows a solid increase in organisational membership to 230 which is up 12 over the month. The individual membership also shows a slight increase to 381. With Andrew Healey now on the job I expect rapid growth over the next couple of months.
