Lisa Wells, BA, CFRE, FFINZ

Lisa Wells Fundraising

Lisa has a background in education, writing and management. Over the last 22 years she has directed fundraising programmes for organisations all over New Zealand, successfully raising targets ranging from $100,000 to $30,000,000+.

As well as leading workshops and mentoring on personal asking, organisational analysis, planning, copywriting and elements of the Annual Fund Development Programme, Lisa is a faculty member of Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy and facilitates their Fund Raising School courses within New Zealand.

Lisa is a past President and a Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand and a past Chair of its Ethics Committee. She holds the international qualification of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). This qualification is awarded on the basis of knowledge, experience, results and service to the profession and Philanthropic sector. Lisa is based in Mosgiel, Dunedin and operates her business Lisa Wells Fundraising.

Fraser Carson, MFINZ

Flightdec Limited

Fraser Carson has over 30 years experience in a wide variety of communications, marketing and business-related areas. A graphic designer and former art director with the BBC in London, Television New Zealand and several New Zealand advertising agencies, Fraser is managing director of and operates He runs workshops and seminars on: marketing, online strategy development (including social media) and creative thinking. A particular focus is advocacy campaign planning and activity, with an emphasis on online and digital methods. Lyn Chapman, MFINZ

Bequest Coordinator and Retail Manager at Otago Community Hospice

With over eleven years' experience in the marketing/ fundraising field, Lyn has a broad skill-set in non profit and retail environments. She is resourceful and creative, and always looking for innovative ways to do things better.

Lyn enjoys writing strategic plans which align with brand identity and drive results. Hands-on as well, Lyn get’s involved in the day to day work which every fundraiser faces. This work is varied and interesting and she loves interaction with donors and supporters.


Dominique Leeming, CFRE, FFINZ

Capital Campaigns Manager at Coastguard

Dominique began her fundraising career in 1999 when she joined Presbyterian Support Upper South Island. Since then Dominique has worked for a number of charities and as a consultant. Her experience and skill specialties include direct marketing and donor communications, major donor and capital campaign work.

Currently Dominique works for Coastguard specialising in capital campaigns to fund million dollar rescue vessels and building developments.

Committed to building civil society Dominique has volunteered in leadership roles since she was 16 and currently serves on Canterbury Society of Arts trust board.

Dominique has maintained active involvement with FINZ having served on the Southern Division Committee for several years and five years on the national council, including a year as vice president. During her service she was a member of the working committee that developed and implemented the first industry codes and standards for fundraising in New Zealand. She has also presented at regional workshops and national conference.

Dominique became a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) in 2008 and was made a Fellow of the Institute in 2014.


Rob Fitzpatrick, MFINZ

Rob has been involved in community organisations in NZ for the past twenty years following his return from living in Southern California for the previous twenty years where he worked for many celebrities and executives in the music industry restoring and managing their car collections.

Starting the Father and Child trust in Dunedin was his first foray into fundraising which led into being the funding officer for IHC in the South Island running several major national campaigns. The next ten years Rob spent as an Employment Facilitator dealing with a wide range of local businesses and assisting individuals overcome barriers to employment. During this time Rob has also operated his own Music Promotion business and an online booking agency while arranging sponsorship and organising live music events.

Currently Rob is the Manager of Operation New Direction which is a mentoring program aimed at ‘at-risk’ children and is also responsible for all fundraising and event management. Rob is passionate about his work and a strong believer in building contacts in the business sector in order to fund community groups. His ability to tell a good story is key to selling organisations needs to potential funding bodies and he is keen to share his knowledge and tips on maximising the returns by carefully crafting applications. Mark Newell, MFINZ

Direct Marketing Specialist, New Zealand Post

Mark has over 20 years sales and marketing experience and has spent the last 8 years as a Direct Marketing Specialist with NZ Post. Mark currently works with a range of clients from large corporates to smaller niche businesses, including a number of charities. Mark has been involved with the Marketing Association Southern Committee for the past 5 years and is also the newest member of the FINZ Southern Committee. When Mark is not talking about Direct Marketing, or wedding planning (getting married in December), he can be found at home on the lifestyle block with this fiancee and daughter, or out fishing! Sue van Schreven, MFINZ

Founder and CEO Orphans Aid International

Sue and Carl van Schreven are the Founders of Orphans Aid International and have been breathing and sleeping the vision since before it began in 2004. Sue [nee Anderson] was formerly a Youth Pastor and an accredited Financial adviser. She and Carl have two young children, Ben and Daniel, who have also been involved with the set up of the orphanages and are very much part of the team. Sue has travelled extensively and has a great relationship with all the projects. She has written her first book, an autobiography published in 2011 titled 'Rescue: Pursuit of the Ultimate Dream' featuring her personal journey and the story of Orphans Aid International (available from the Online Shop). Visit
